1) NEWater's primary objective was to determine the suitability of using NEWater as a source of raw water to supplement Singapore's water supply. 2) This would reduce dependency for water on the weather and Malaysia. 3) This would prevent droughts in Singapore as we have NEWater and desalinated water to fall back on.
One concept learned is about micro-filtration. It seems so extraordinary that the membrane's holes are actually 0.00001 mic. Thats 100000000 times smaller than the thickness of your hair. Another concept is on the UV. The UV rays kill every thing left in the water. But it still is sickening thinking that we sometimes drink dead bacteria and such.
An interesting thing i learnt is that I do actually drink that stuff when drink water mixed with it. I hate the taste of NEWater!!!
